Manchester Probation Service have recently undertaken some maintenance of the club's grounds. Below is a copy of the email that was sent to thank them for their efforts.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dave Bowyer, Roland, Jim and the rest of the team from Community Payback for the fantastic work undertaken at Lostock Tennis Club – Lostock.On behalf of Jack Lowe and the committee of Lostock Tennis Club, I understand that there is one day’s work yet to do. However, already the grounds and clubhouse look really neat and tidy. Credit where credit is due, the team have conducted themselves in a friendly manner at all times, and the quality of the work has not gone unnoticed by the members of the club, and I feel its only right to convey our thanks. It’s easy in today’s society to sneer at some people’s unfortunate situation, and too many people do that, without understanding the reasons why some people fall in to trouble. However, I also think it’s important to acknowledge the good in people and their intention to better themselves. Thank you again, and I wish you all the very best for the future. Keep up the good work, it is appreciated. David M Bedford

It has been brought to our attention that the members and guests parking of vehicles when visiting LTC is becoming an issue. Please can you all make an effort, not to double park on Regent Road, and to also pay appropriate attention to parking of vehicles near our immediate neighbours. If we can please think about safety, and do our best, to park single file on the left hand side, going down Regent Road towards the station. That would be appreciated. Not all members will see this email, so its up to us all to try and spread the word. Thank you. David M Bedford

Dear Members,
Sam Brook is attempting to put together a rota for maintaining the courts throughout the season. His idea is to ensure that the courts look well-presented for all match nights, whenever possible. This will normally mean dragging the courts before matches. (The problems we experience with parking prevent ‘the machine’ being used after matches). To achieve this for all fixtures a large team is required and Sam asks you to indicate your possible interest/availability for the nights in question – this is just for Lostock courts, not Bolton school. This year's Lakeland tournament was held on 1st May 2011. Congratulations to Kath Taylor and Adam Francis, who narrowly beat Cath Wadsworth and Gary Daley in the final. Many thanks to Joanna Taylor for organising the event.
